It is your responsibility to ensure you have the right permits. Penalties apply for entering the national park without the correct documentation.
Commercial filming and photography for tourism promotion in the Great Sandy Marine Park does not (generally) require an authority (unless high impact, high risk, or requires a controlled setting / exclusive use). Commercial filming and photography on National Parks, Recreation Areas (inc Fraser Island and the Great Sandy National Park), State Forest, involving up to 10 people, and no structures, does not require an authority (An authority in this instance refers to a Permit to Conduct Commercial Activity(ies) - CAP).
Requests outside these perimeters (eg, commercial advertising; feature films; drama series; more than 10 people; filming involving structures etc) will require permission from the Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing (Parks and Wildlife) to film. This must be obtained prior to your arrival. A Permit To Conduct Commercial Activity(ies) (CAP) must be filled in online and can take up to 40 business days to process and some fees may apply.
For assistance with completing this form, please contact 132 523 (mention Commercial Activity Permit to the operator).
It is your crew's responsibility to ensure that you check you are compliant with standards set by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority for drones and RPAS. On Fraser, you must also check you are compliant with any requirements set by National Parks.
